Sun shines all day at Crooklands

Westmorland County Show Picture Special

The only thing that proved dreadful about this year’s Westmorland County Show was the forecast. Christine Knipe and her staff at Lane Farm must have been very concerned prior to the show, but they needn’t have worried. The sun shone and the crowds once again turned out in their droves to witness the best that Westmorland has to offer - from high quality livestock to brilliant local produce in the UK’s biggest food marquee! The Longhorns returned to the show for the first time in a number of years and there were a huge range of classes for Alpacas, who held their first ever short fleece competition on UK soil. The turnout in both cattle and sheep saw yet another huge entry with livestock travelling from much further afield, including Yorkshire, County Durham, Lancashire and Cheshire.
